The University Store on Fifth held its Holiday Open House Dec. 3, hosting the Pitt Pendulums a cappella group as well as offering gift basket raffles, special sales, makeovers, and snacks and beverages. For the second year, the University Store is donating a portion of all in-store purchases through Dec. 14 to charities, including United Way and Project Bundle-Up, which provides new winter outwear for disadvantaged children and seniors across Western Pennsylvania. Pitt students played key roles in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Region II Fall Conference, held Nov. 14-16 at the DoubleTree Hilton in Greentree. Conference organizers included Pitt seniors Ashley McCray (far left with orange blouse), a chemical engineering major and the NSBE Region II chair, and Marcus Jordan (not pictured), an industrial engineering major and NSBE Fall Regional Conference chair. Pitt Vice Provost and Dean of Students Kathy Humphrey (center) delivered remarks on leadership and the importance of having passion for one’s profession to more than 700 students from around the region. Prior to the conference, Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto declared Nov. 14 as National Society of Black Engineers Day.
