Several hundred members of the Pitt community traveled to Harrisburg on March 22 for the annual Pitt Day in the state Capitol. Faculty, staff, students, and alumni met with legislators, stressing Pitt’s value to the Commonwealth and also seeking an end to the then-8-month state budget impasse. The next day, Gov. Tom Wolf announced a resolution that would enable a funding appropriation bill, including $150 million for Pitt, a 5% increase over last year. Afterward, Chancellor Patrick Gallagher described Pitt as one of Pennsylvania’s best investments and said, “I want to thank all members of the Pitt community who advocated for our budget request and made their support known to our elected officials in Harrisburg. Your efforts were essential to securing this positive outcome and underscoring the fact that With Pitt, Pennsylvania Wins.”
