PittPerks Discount Program Begins

Issue Date:
April 13, 2015

The University of Pittsburgh has launched its “PittPerks” program, which offers discounts on a range of products and services, including auto and pet insurance, travel services, restaurants, retailers, and identity-theft insurance.

The program is available to full-time faculty and staff, research associates, and postdoctoral associates. Some part-time positions also have access to the program. Details are available at www.pittperks.com

Pitt selected New York City-based CoreStream—a provider of voluntary-benefits technology—to administer the program. Payroll deductions can be made for all of PittPerks’ voluntary insurance programs, said Lori Carnvale, the University’s director of benefits.

Among the offerings are discounts on home and auto insurance through MetLife and Travelers insurance companies. Identity-theft protection can be purchased through MetLife. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals offers pet insurance policies.

Carnvale said new offerings will be added frequently to the program, which may be extended to retirees in the future.

“We plan to continue expanding this with feedback from faculty and staff,” Carnvale said. “This can be a great service to connect us further with local business districts and the community.”

The PittPerks program will also offer discounts at a wide range of companies including Walt Disney World, Cinemark, Wyndham and Marriott Hotels, Best Buy, The Popcorn Factory, Advanced Auto Parts, Costco, and Omaha Steaks.

To register for the program, employees may log on to www.pitt.edu, click the “My Resources” tab, and then the “Human Resources” link.

Faculty and staff may also email suggestions for new discount offerings to pittperks@corestream.com, or call 1-888-689-9696 with any questions.
