Energy Law & Policy Institute to Open
The University of Pittsburgh School of Law has formed an Energy Law & Policy Institute that will open this fall.
Kevin Abbott (LAW ’81), a senior energy law partner at Reed Smith LLP and a law school adjunct professor, will serve as the institute’s interim executive director.
School of Law Dean William M. Carter Jr. said the interdisciplinary institute will train law students to become leaders in providing legal services to the regional, national, and international energy sectors. He added that the institute will host its first major conference on energy law in spring 2016.
The Energy Law & Policy Institute plans to advance collaborative research and teaching through partnerships with Pitt’s Center for Energy, Swanson School of Engineering, Katz Graduate School of Business, Graduate School of Public Health, and Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.
