G-20 Update From The Chancellor
On Sept. 24, evening classes cancelled, Frick Fine Arts closed
Because of security restrictions related to the Thursday, Sept. 24, heads-of-state dinner to be held at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in conjunction with the G-20 Summit, the Frick Fine Arts Building will be closed from the end of the last evening class on Wednesday, Sept. 23, until 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. There will be no University access to that building during the time that it is closed.
Because of traffic concerns related to that same event, all classes on the Oakland campus that begin on or after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, will be cancelled. Normal class schedules will resume on the morning of Friday, Sept. 25.
As the date for the Summit approaches, please check the University Web site for developing information. University students and employees who have not already done so, also should enroll in Pitt’s Emergency Notification System. Sign up at my.pitt.edu.
The selection of Pittsburgh to host this Summit presents a range of positive opportunities for our home region. The gathering also will produce some measure of inconvenience. Advance planning and a conscious commitment to patience almost certainly will be of help in dealing with any challenges that do arise.
