Heinz Chapel Offers Winter Cards for U.S. Soldiers
This picturesque scene of Heinz Chapel adorned with snow on a winter’s day is providing comfort to wounded servicemen and women at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
Photographer Dave DiCello captured the image, and the card makes its debut this year at Heinz Chapel as members of the public are encouraged to stop by the chapel and write a card to a member of the Armed Services. The cards measure 5 x 7 inches and will be available until Dec. 23.
The envelopes are pre-addressed and the chapel staff will seal and mail them to the hospital. Chapel Director Pat Gibbons said that the first day the cards were on display, a number of visitors stopped and took the time to write greetings to our military men and women.
The cards will be available during the chapel’s business hours except if a wedding is being held. The chapel is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
