Lifetime Achievement Award For Public Service
Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg (right) and Carnegie Mellon University President Emeritus Jared L. Cohon were honored April 8 with the Elsie Hilliard Hillman Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Public Service. The two departing university leaders—Nordenberg is set to step down August 1 and Cohon stepped down as president in 2013—were selected for their stellar record of cooperation and joint achievement.
Chancellor Nordenberg addressed the audience during the private ceremony at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.
Sy Holzer, PNC Bank president, sits with Elsie Hillman, a civic and political leader who has worked on issues such as civil rights, employment, and women’s rights in the Pittsburgh region. The award was created in 2012 by Pitt’s Institute of Politics to recognize Hillman’s lifetime of public service to the Pittsburgh community and beyond.
