Newsmakers: Celebrating Pitt's Innovators
Rory Cooper, the FISA/Paralyzed Veterans of America Chair and Distinguished Professor in Pitt’s Department of Rehabilitation Science, received a Pitt Innovator Award for the licensing of a highly adjustable wheelchair for novice athletes who are pursuing shot put, discus, and javelin throwing. The recognition came during the 8th annual Celebration of Innovation at Pitt and its Pitt Innovator Award program on Oct. 2. Cohosted by Pitt’s Office of the Provost and Office of Technology Management, the event recognizes at the highest level the achievements of Pitt Innovators, who comprise faculty, staff, and students that participate in the commercialization process at Pitt.
