A Centennial Celebration
Pitt’s Omicron Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-lettered Black fraternity, marked the centennial anniversary of its founding during a Jan. 18-21 celebration in Oakland. The Omicron Centennial Ball and Dinner was held Jan. 19 in Alumni Hall’s Connolly Ballroom. Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg and Mark S. Tillman, the general president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, delivered remarks. The keynote speaker was Chaka Fattah, U.S. Congressman for the 2nd District and an Alpha Phi Alpha member.
