Nordenberg Is Honored by Pitt Varsity Letter Club
Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg was named an Honorary Awardee of Distinction by the Pitt Varsity Letter Club at a Sept. 27 awards dinner at the Petersen Events Center. Since 1961, the club has honored members who have distinguished themselves in their profession or community, and who, by their accomplishments, have enhanced the value of the intercollegiate athletics program at the University of Pittsburgh. “Admired and beloved by students, appreciated by faculty and staff, and highly respected by alumni, trustees, legislators, and community leaders, the University of Pittsburgh has experienced unprecedented progress under Mark’s leadership,” said Pitt Trustee and alumnus Robert G. Lovett (A&S ’66), who presented the award. Lovett, a Letterman of Distinction in the Pitt Varsity Letter Club, served as cocaptain of the men’s basketball team when he was a student.
