University Store on Fifth to Celebrate Grand Opening Oct. 18-19
The University Store on Fifth will hold its grand opening on Oct. 18-19 to celebrate its newly renovated space and the expansion of what was formerly The Book Center at the University of Pittsburgh. The store is part of a new composite of shops within Pitt’s Schenley Quad that includes the Oakland Bakery and Market and that will soon house a full-service Starbucks Café.
The University Store’s name highlights that it provides merchandise and services far beyond textbooks. The store offers not only the educational products needed by the Pitt community, but also on-site technical support and other products and customer services.
Grand opening hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 18 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 18. The store will offer raffles, games, and contests with giveaways and prizes from all of its major departments: Technology, Pitt Clothing and Gifts, General Books, Textbooks, the Espresso Book Machine, and the Café. Members of Pitt’s Department of Theater Arts will perform periodically throughout the day on Oct. 18, and guests will be able to use a photo booth to record their Pitt pride after donning Pitt spirit wear. Blue-and-gold wigs and face paint will be provided.
